Wedding Color Spotlight: Captivating Coral!

Roses

While it can be difficult to remember that Spring is indeed on her way, what with the snow feverishly falling outside our Northeastern windows, flipping through magazines and keeping a watch on wedding trend blogs and sites has our spirits soaring upon seeing sunny, saturated color! Brilliant blues, lovely lilacs, and fierce fuchsias abound, but the color we’d like to take a closer look at first is coral.

We’ve put together some gorgeous options for incorporating coral into your wedding and reception. Let us know which you like best, and if there’s any coral treasures you’d like to share!

Wedding Flowers: There are countless options for bringing coral into your floral arrangements and bridal bouquet. Look at several different flowers as the color intensity will vary by both flower type and individual flower. Coral can lean toward red, orange or pink, three colors that just happen to look gorgeous together! For a bouquet that incorporates all three, we suggest trying tiger lilies, stargazer lilies and coral roses.

Wedding Favors: Continuing with the flower theme, BloemBox favors in any color would look beautiful with coral. If you did want to keep the favor color restricted to tones of orange, pink and/or red, you can also opt for all of one color in the style dropdown. Each of the BloemBox Favors we offer features at least one flower that would work wonderfully!

Bridesmaid Dresses: Your problem with finding coral bridesmaid dresses is sure to be choosing just one. I set out to find some favorites, and landed at DimitraDesigns.com. Their selection of stunning dresses is huge! This was the first and last stop on my hunt for coral dresses as I found more than enough to ooh and ahh over.

If you want something a little bit sexy, consider these coral Short Bridesmaid Dresses. All sorts of flirty and fun, and free shipping! A longer option that caught my eye was this Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid Dress, available in 55 colors (coral included, of course!), with your choice of color for the modern, yet timeless, waist sash. This one strikes me as something both Katharine Hepburn and Gwen Stefani would enjoy, with the ultimate look truly determined by the color combination you choose.

Where else would you pull coral into your color palette? Let us know below!

Kids’ Favors – Wonderful For Weddings And Perfect For Parties!

Gumball Machine Favors

Our wedding day is among the most enjoyable, monumental days of our lives, and as such most of us look to celebrate this day with the people dearest to our hearts. In most cases, these people will be of all different ages, from the bittiest baby to the most elegant elder! And in most cases, the same wedding favors will make a marvelous gift for each one of them. After all, who could deny the charm of our Love Bird Favors?! We can only think of one group that might – kids. Chances are you won’t be giving favors to babies, but if you’ve ever been to a wedding with kids ages 3 and up, you already know they want a little present, too! I still remember my niece trying to figure out some way to make her tiny picture frame favor into something she could play with at my cousin’s reception, and there was simply no way. To think it all could have been prevented with special favors for the kids!

I’ll admit that the picture frame incident wasn’t the end of the world. However, it did make me think that separate favors for the kids might not be a bad idea, and apparently I wasn’t the only one thinking it! There are lots of fun and affordable options out there designed with the young (and young at heart!) in mind. My personal favorite of all our kids favors is these adorable Mini Gumball Machines. These tiny and terrific replicas look just like classic gumball machines, and come packed with petite Dubble Bubble gumballs. Love the idea of gumballs, but want something a little sportier? Westport Favors also offers Soccer Gumball Machines, Football Gumball Machines, Basketball Gumball Machines and Baseball Gumball Machines. Each of these is also stocked with Dubble Bubble for the ultimate in favor flavor!

Other kid-friendly favors include these huge (and hugely delicious) Cookie Favors, and our Belgian Chocolate Lollipops. We should warn you, however, that when Belgian chocolate is involved, you might just want to make that your favor for everyone. Nothing starts a favor fight faster than a limited supply of chocolate!

Victoria With Roses – A Wonderful Wedding Blog!

As you might have guessed, we love weddings! Sure, Wedding Favors are among our most favorite things about weddings, but we also love to read about all the other awesome things weddings bring. So just like you, we hit the blogs. The creative ideas, pretty pictures, terrific trends, fabulous flower arrangements and beautiful bouquets are enough to make our heads spin, but oh what a happy head spin it is!

My most recent stop on my wedding blog walk was Victoria With Roses. I saw so many wonderful things in the shop window (aka. my computer monitor) that I wanted to share this blog with all of you. Victoria Lynn, the lovely lady behind the blog, describes her blog as ‘A Catalogue Of Beautiful And Creative Ideas For Your Wedding Day’ – and we couldn’t agree more! There’s a little bit of everything here, from unexpectedly beautiful ways to Use Masking Tape, to easily and economically incorporating Milkglass Centerpieces, or just enjoying an adorable photo of an Oh-So-Cute Puppy. We hope you love it all as much as we do, and look forward to sharing other fabulous wedding blogs with you in the future!

Have a must-read wedding blog or two of your own? Let us know so we can share those with all our readers! And, of course, thanks for taking the time to read ours. :)

Towel Cakes – Are they fabulous favors, darling decorations, or perfect little presents? Yes!

Strawberry Parfait Towel CakeIf you have already taken a peek at our towel cake collection, chances are you realized that there was no stopping us once we got a ‘taste’ for these favors. We love them! And we offer such a stellar selection to ensure we have the ideal dessert for your wedding reception or gift-giving occasion. See, it wasn’t just our inability to say no to every pretty parfait after oh-so-cute cupcake – we were thinking of you, too! J

We’re On A Roll With These Towel Cakes! – Proving that adorable can also be affordable, Le Patissier brings these Towel Cakes, shaped like yummy roll cakes. These are available in 4 color combinations to replicate Neapolitan cake, chocolate cake, strawberry cake and green tea cake. Choose your favorite flavor, color, or favor that complements your wedding colors best. No matter which you choose, it is topped with a charming cherry on top that is actually a magnet. No wonder I feel so drawn to these favors – they‘re magnetic!

Parfait Was Never So Pretty! – I love all our Le Patissier towel cakes, I really do. I love the decadently delightful desserts they look so much like, I love that the favors are so unique and useful, I love the unparalleled attention to detail and charming elegance packed into each. But if I could only choose one favorite treat, it would have to be the Towel Cake Parfaits. Available in chocolate, strawberry and melon varieties, these even come complete with a spoon! I’m thinking of gifting these as party favors for my favorite ladies at my first outdoor get-together this Spring. I could have a real sundae bar as well so we could make tasty treats, and enjoy the replicas as a take-home reminder of the fun. Just don’t tell them, OK. I want it to be a sweet surprise!

Valentine Favors – Pretty and Pink and Perfect for Your Party!

Favor Boxes

While Valentine’s Day makes a wonderful time to spend some lovely alone time with your main squeeze, it can also be a fun time to spend with those other people you love – your friends and family! Of course your significant other will be there as well, but you’ll have the added fun of sneaking kisses in the kitchen while you refill the candy dish. Another benefit of a Valentine’s Party? You can play matchmaker for your single friends! If you have single friends who are looking for love, there’s no time of the year where there’s more romance in the air than Valentine’s Day. And even if Cupid’s arrow doesn’t strike, there’s fun to be had and new friends to meet. But since we’re so in love with love, we’re going to hope for lots of love at first sight. :)

How to make your Valentine’s Party a smashing success? It’s simple, really. Just think in pink, revel in red, and buy as much candy as your debit card will allow! And if you’re looking for something a bit more specific, consider these tips…

  • Chocolate Fondue Fountain – If you don’t have one of your own, chances are you know someone who does. And even if you do have one, two is even better! Milk chocolate and white chocolate covered strawberries, bananas, pretzels, chips and more? Yes, please!

  • Fun Valentine’s Cards – Ask your guests to bring Valentines for everyone just like we did when we were kids. There’s a lot of cute retro Valentines available now, as well as new classics that feature Nerds candy, Fun Dip, and other sweet treats.

  • Set The Soundtrack For Romance – Make sure to have hours of Valentine’s Day-friendly music ready to rock the house. Not every song has to be a ballad, but think of songs that make sense for the scene, and also work well with your style and the vibe you want to promote.

  • Heart-Shaped Everything – OK, maybe not everything, but everything that can be! If you’re going to have little sandwiches, you can cut the bread into heart shapes first, which can also be done with pita bread for dips and cheese. It’s a small touch, but those are the ones that mean so much.

  • Fabulous Favors – From Favor Boxes to Favor Bags, Westport Favors has tons of terrific options just waiting to be filled with conversation hearts and chocolates. Imagine how pretty they’ll look spread out on a decorated table by the door, just waiting for your guests to take with them at the end of the most fantastic party ever!

Have any tips or ideas to add? We’d love to hear from you in the comments! We’d also love to chat with you on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t be shy!

Lovely Little Luxuries Make Beautiful Bridesmaid Gifts!

Lemongrass Lime Home Fragrance DiffuserJust as many people are turning to more practical wedding favors, such as edible favors and towel cakes, many brides are also looking to gift their best girls with bridesmaid gifts that bring something unexpected. While jewelry, personalized keepsakes, and similar traditional gifts are definitely something to consider, if none of those things seem like a good fit for your favorite ladies, think outside the box a bit. Perhaps pretty and sweetly-scented everyday indulgences, such as decadent lotions, soaps or candles, would be more appreciated by your friends. It’s these small things that can mean so much that many of us don’t take the time, or don’t have the spare cash, to treat ourselves to. We offer several popular scents at WestportFavors.com, but let’s take a look at Lemongrass Lime. I’m probably not supposed to play favorites, but…this is mine!

Home Fragrance Diffuser – Packaged in the chicest box I’ve ever seen, our diffusers are perfect for adding a breath of fresh, fragrant air to any space. Many people keep these in the bathroom for their decorative and practical purposes, but they also make a wonderful aromatic pick-me-up for offices, bedrooms, or any space you spend a lot of time and want to breathe in the beauty! If there’s a friend in your party who doesn’t wear a lot of scents, or who has a favorite she wears every day, this would make a great choice for her.

Shea Butter and Aloe Body Lotion – Ooh-La-Lemongrass-Lovely! Housed in a similar package to the home fragrance diffuser, this satiny soft lotion brings together delightful skin-drenching ingredients with our crisp and clean lemongrass lime scent to lift your spirits and up your soft factor. This is an especially terrific gift for the dry Winter months when we’re fighting an uphill battle against the air to stay smooth.

Our Lemongrass Lime Collection also includes rich Shea Butter Soap and a clean-burning Soy Wax Candle. Hey, when we find a scent this fabulous, we grab whatever we can!

Want to Know the Bridal Trends of 2009?

In a recent release from My Wedding Workbook, a wedding software company, the hottest wedding trends of 2009 were outlined. And let me tell you, they are so interesting! According to a survey conducted by the company, brides are turning away from traditional wedding musts and instead, making their big days even more creative by choosing darker hues for color schemes, less formal occasion, and by using a ton of cost-saving approaches to having a beautiful wedding. Let’s start out with some of the color findings.

This past year, brides looked to darker colors like navy, brown, and deep reds to anchor the look of the wedding, though don’t think there wasn’t any punch of color to spice things up. Many brides complemented their darker hue choices with shots of orange, yellow, peach and pink so that their wedding days could be even more exciting. Plus, there was – as always – a lot of classic black used in wedding plans.

As for the fashions, more brides chose cocktail dresses and suits, rather than gowns and tuxedos. Same thing goes for guests. With more receptions being listed as “casual”, female guests felt free to break out their favorite sheath or sundress while guys sported coats and khakis.

Finally, a huge change was in the way that couples spent money. Instead of skimping on the guest list, couples chose to instead cut back on the honeymoon, the size of the bridal party, or the flowers while working on a ton of DIY decorations. Couples also saved by having more intimate gatherings in their own backyards, complete with adorable DIY wedding favors that complemented the wedding theme.
